One of the most beautiful lakes we encountered on our travels was Konigssee in Bavaria. We'd been travelling through Austria near Salzburg and Kitzbuhel and somebody had told us to pop back into Germany to visit this lake if we could. We were so pleased that we did. The early morning mist that covered the lake provided an eerie atmosphere as we waited by the waters edge for it to lift. Konigssee was revealed in all of it's beauty and a memory imprinted forever. We enjoyed Germany more than expected. The Black Forest and Baden-Baden was excellent for cycling and we saw some beautiful chocolate box towns and quaint villages. Triburg, a town famous for its cuckoo clocks was fascinating.
Bavaria We crossed the Austria and Germany boarder numerous times as we did not use any toll roads. This then saved the worry of which Vignette ticket to buy for the motorhome and ensured we did not miss the fantastic scenery.
We were given a tip from a fellow motorhome owner that was priceless. Whilst passing through Austria there was a famous location overlooked by the landmark "Hitlers Nest / The Eagles Nest". On arrival we realised what a beautiful place was waiting, Lake Konigssee
After a relaxing evening we left Germany and headed back across Austria to Italy and across the Dolomites
