On route to New York we planned a stopover in Reykjavik, Iceland. A short trip to a place we had not visited but it is certainly a place we will visit again. We now know that we'll be needing a very, very warm coat next time.

With the hire car, studded tyres and road map at the ready we set out to explore this most unique landscape formed from volcanoes, geysers, waterfalls and rivers.

After a long day we sat out until midnight looking for the Northern lights with no luck...
We had a late flight so explored a little more in the morning having a look around Reykjavik
